in the last weekSri Lankan cuisine was lovely however I did find it slightly expensive. Paying for location mainly. We all had the hoppers meal $30 pp and as a vegetarian I would have appreciated a wet curry rather than lentils and beetroot curry which were both relatively dry. Will definitely go again. Staff were attentive and polite on a busy night where they were understaffed. 8/10

a week agoWe were really excited to try Three Elephants, especially as Sri Lankans who love good, authentic SL food, but it ended up being a mixed experience. The crab curry was definitely the highlight, really flavourful and enjoyable but the accompanying roast pang was stale. The chicken and lamb curries were decent too, but nothing particularly special. Unfortunately, the portions quite small across the board. The prices felt way too high for what we got, maybe that’s due to the location and rent, but the food just didn’t match the price. The pol sambol was dry and honestly tasted like it came straight from a bottle (we use similar ones at home, so it was easy to tell). We mainly went for the hoppers, but they were a letdown. They seemed stale and slightly reheated, not fresh. Hoppers are supposed to be hot and crispy, and these just weren’t. Overall, some good flavours, but not enough to justify the price, and not a place we’d return to.

a week agoHad dinner here once and honestly, it was a great experience. The food was perfectly cooked and definitely worth the price—they really seem to care about maintaining good quality. Had a quick chat with the manager too, and you can tell they genuinely try their best to serve fresh seafood, especially the crab. We tried a few seafood dishes with a bottle of white wine, and it turned out to be a perfect dinner. Also loved the vibe around the place. Definitely worth trying if you’re around St Kilda 👍
