3 weeks agoWent with a family of 7 today and it was a great experience. Definitely a visit again sometime. The owner manages the front of house and cooks the hoppers. When we went in it was a full house and he multitasked very well. He is very well spoken and is helpful and honest w.r.t the cooking time etc. There are a lot of 1 star reviews regarding the time for the order, i would agree that yes the order does take time. However, the order is cooked fresh and served hot and crispy. I would happily wait for that. But yes do keep the wait time in mind when visiting this restaurant. We ordered the hopper family meal, fish cutlets and lamb Chicken starters. All dishes were amazing. The egg hoppers and the mutton curry combination was the star of the show for us. It was very cost effective. i would say the hopper meal and maybe one extra gravy would have been more than enough quantity-wise and that would make it approx 17-18 dollars per head which is more than affordable. Now for some of the critiques that would have made it a 5 star for us. 1 star taken out from service as the restaurant does seem under staffed. The owner is having juggle way too much and this causes minor issues like the food taking approx 20-25 mins. Personally I didn't mind the time but it was not coordinated with the rest of the kitchen. Eg we were getting the gravys much later than the hoppers so the hoppers were not crispy hot by the time the gravys arrived and vice versa. 1 star out of atmosphere and that's not truly the atmosphere. The vibe in the restaurant area was awesome. However, the walk from the restaurant area to the washrooms makes the restaurant feel very cheap and unhygienic. There were pieces of vegetable on the floor and just looked untidy. PS: would also be nice to have the Ladies toilet sign stuck on the wall rather than on the door because if the doors are left open there's no indication on whether the toilet is ladies or men. Minus some of those minor qualms would I still recommend this restaurant. Of course I would, the food was great. The atmosphere is very homely and the service was as good as it could get. A must visit for the full family
